PLOT AGREEMENT FORM - NEW CEMETERY
RULES & REGULATIONS
NEW CEMETERY
Chalkhead Baptist Church - Ozark, Alabama
Church members seeking a burial plot must first contact a member of the Cemetery Committee before selecting a plot. Plots are provided at no charge for church members, their spouses, and dependent children. After selecting a plot, the member must sign the Plot Agreement Form, acknowledging and agreeing to all Rules and Regulations of the New Cemetery. New church members must complete a one-year waiting period before becoming eligible to select a plot or be buried in the New Cemetery. If a new member passes away during that first year, their burial in the New Cemetery must be approved by both the Deacons and the Cemetery Committee.
Single-entry gates have been installed to allow church members and visitors access to the cemetery grounds. All double gates are locked and clearly marked; entry through those gates requires contacting a member of the Cemetery Committee.
All plots for members are free of charge. Only one casket may be placed in each burial plot, with the exception that cremated remains may be interred on top of an existing casket. In such cases, a flat marker must be installed within one year of the second interment to ensure that cemetery maintenance is not hindered.
Plot sizes are limited to 5 feet by 11 feet for one person, and 10 feet by 11 feet for two people. Any request for a larger plot must be approved by the church.
A designated area of the cemetery will be reserved for members choosing cremation. Cremation plots will measure 3 feet by 3 feet.
Granite or concrete coping, fencing, trellises, gravel, and all other forms of enclosure around plots are prohibited. Stepping stones and benches are also not permitted.
A burial vault is required for all burials.
A 14-foot-wide access road will surround the New Cemetery. Additional North–South access roads will be established with a width of 12 feet.
No trees, shrubs, or plants—other than grass—may be planted in the cemetery.
No type of enclosure, including fences, coping, hedges, or ditches, is permitted around any grave or lot. Grave mounds are not allowed, and no lot may be raised above the established grade. Graves must be covered only with natural grass. The placement of solar lights, wind chimes, birdhouses, feeders, vases, shells, toys, ornaments, chairs, benches, glass, crockery, wood or iron cases, or any other items that hinder maintenance is prohibited. Flower arrangements should be placed on headstones when possible and removed when they become withered or unsightly. Items placed in violation of this policy may be removed and discarded.
All designated plot information will be forwarded to the church secretary.
